2020 – Plague year

I had planned three trips for 2020.

The first was a trip to Germany and Poland in mid-May. My plan was to fly to Berlin, spend a few days there, and take a train to nearby cities (Leipzig, Dresden, Potsdam, Hamburg). From Germany, I hoped to fly to Krakow, perhaps visit some other nearby towns, then take a train to Warsaw, and then fly back home.

My second trip was going to be in conjunction with the ASM conference in Chicago in June. I planned to go the conference and catch ballgames at Wrigley and Guaranteed Rate Field, then take Amtrak’s California Zephyr from Chicago to San Francisco (in an Amtrak “Roomette“), stay there for a night, rent a car and drive to LA (visit Anaheim Stadium and Dodger Stadium), then take the Amtrak Coast Starlight (Roomette) from LA to Seattle (catch a game at T-Mobile Park), then fly home from Seattle.

The third trip was scheduled for November, and I planned to do an REI cycling trip through Vietnam and Cambodia, then take a train to Bangkok to visit Mark and Caroline.

Unfortunately, the Coronavirus pandemic has delayed those plans for at least a year.
