14 April 2023

Pete and I took off from my house around 0600, stopped by the WaWa in Warrenton for breakfast, and met up with Mike at the Old Rag parking lot around 0800. We hit the trail around 0830. After about a half hour on the Nicholson Hollow Trail, we ran into ace overseers Mel and Lorena Ellis removing large blowdowns with their crosscut saw. We stopped to chat for about 10 minutes, then moved along.

We had lovely April weather for the hike, mostly sunny with temperatures in the mid to high 80s. We took our time, stopping frequently to chat, check out birds and flowers, and to rest briefly at the Corbin Cabin.

We got back to the parking lot around 1600. Pete and I decided to head to Front Royal to re-visit the Chinese buffet there, and Mike headed home for dinner. Pete and I got back to College Park around 2100.
